Product Feature and Application

 

Mechanical Manufacturing Field

As shaft parts, such as transmission shafts, pump shafts, surface polishing is required to reduce friction.

As connecting parts, such as high-strength bolts, flanges, need to choose the cold drawn bar to ensure dimensional accuracy.

As mould fittings, injection mould inserts, temperature and mild corrosion resistant

Can not be long-term exposure to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) containing environment, easy to cause stress corrosion cracking.

Chemical Equipment Field

Reactor support, piping systems, valve fittings, need to be high surface finish anti-adhesion

Attention, high concentration of chloride ions (Cl-) environment (such as salt water, seawater), prone to pitting corrosion, need to change to 316 stainless steel.

Food and Medical Field

Meets FDA (USA) or GB 4806 (China) food grade requirements. Needs to withstand high temperature steam sterilisation (121°C for 30 minutes) and can come into contact with acidic foods (e.g. fruit juices), alcohol, cleaning agents. Note that prolonged exposure to chlorinated disinfectants (e.g. sodium hypochlorite) requires shorter maintenance intervals.

Construction and Decoration

Suitable for dry or normal humid environments, non-coastal salt spray areas. Highly decorative surfaces, brushed and mirror polished. As static or low dynamic loads such as handrails, supports.

Energy and Electronics

Resistant to low magnetic interference because austenite is non-magnetic, adaptable to temperature fluctuations of -50°C ~ 300°C, used as an electronic heat dissipation component, polished to a mirror grade, can be achieved without particle contamination, used as a non-core piping support, resistant to radiation oxidation. Note that ultra-high temperature (>870°C) environments are susceptible to oxidative spalling and require the use of 310S stainless steel.

FAQ

 

Q: Can you customise special shapes or sizes?

A: Special shapes: can be customised hexagonal bar, square bar, flat steel, etc.
Oversize: Diameter >300mm need to be forged and moulded, delivery lead time will be extended by 2-3 weeks.

Q: How are common sizes and lengths selected?

A: Diameter range: 5mm - 300mm (customised to 500mm for special requirements).
Standard lengths: 1m - 6m (longer lengths can be welded in sections).
Suggestions for selection:
Precision machined parts → Cold drawn round bar (tolerance ±0.05mm).
Structural support → hot rolled round bar (economical).

Q: What is the difference between 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel?

A: Compositional differences: 316 contains 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), 304 does not contain molybdenum.
Corrosion resistance: 316 is more resistant to chloride corrosion (such as seawater, salt spray), 304 is suitable for ordinary environment.
Cost: 316 price is about 30%-50% higher than 304.

Q: Will 304 stainless steel round bar rust?

A: General conditions: not easy to rust in a dry, clean environment free of chloride ions.
Easy to rust Scenario:
Long-term contact with salt water, chlorine disinfectant (such as swimming pools).
Surface scratches are not treated in time (destroying the passivation film).

Q: Is it suitable for food and medical devices?

A: Suitability: complies with FDA (USA) and GB 4806.9-2016 (China) food grade standards.
Requirements:
The surface needs to be polished to Ra≤0.8μm to reduce bacterial adhesion.
Before use, it needs to be acid washed and passivated to ensure that the passivation film is intact.
